When Money Becomes the Root of All Evil
Greed is evil, but is money? Remember the saying, "The love of money is the root of all evil?" I think that's even scriptural. Here the word "love" is key as in "love of money." That "love of money" is what leads to greed, not the money or having money itself.
Money can lead one to being evil but having money doesn't make everyone who has it evil. Only evil people are greedy with money. We have plenty of wealthy people who are not greedy. Some wealthy people are among the kindest and most generous and charitable among us. There is nothing evil or greedy about them. Still, others blessed with wealth do meet that evil and greedy profile that all good people despise.
A good analogy is those leftists who declare that guns are evil. Guns don't kill but some people who have guns do kill. However, the overwhelming majority of gun owners are not killers. There are probably far more violent people who don't own guns then those who do.
They're also plenty of people of modest means who are extremely greedy and selfish. Most of us know people like that and have witnessed and/or experienced it far to often. It's about what is in your heart, not what is in your possession. We ought never lose sight of that.
Money is a necessity but like food and water, too much of it will make you fat and unhealthy and will eventually kill you, but not enough of it can kill you too. Think about it, it's true.
Here's how I view it. Greed is bad. Ambition is good. Charity is good but "transferring wealth" is bad. Charity is freely giving to the needy and destitute but "transferring wealth" is just plain ol' theft through legal coercion and mandate. It's repugnant and evil. It is the essence of "greed."
It's not wrong to aspire to a better life. It is wrong to aspire to a better life at someone else's expense (i.e. transferring wealth) instead of taking advantage of opportunity and earning it yourself. If you didn't earn it, you don't deserve it and you are certainly NOT entitled to it. If you get something that you didn't earn then show a lot of gratitude because your benefit is a gift, not a right. An obvious exception is children, all of whom are dependent minors who always deserve to be cared for. They will grow in to their responsibility like everyone else.
Those who are poor through no fault of their own should be helped. That's what genuine charity is all about. Good people don't object to such charity, they embrace it and give freely and often. It's the "Christian thing" to do. However, if you dropped out of school, became a drug addict or an alcoholic, choose to break the law and develop a criminal record, got bad grades and flunked out of school because you were to lazy to study, if injured yourself because you elected to do something stupid, if you got an STD because you were promiscuous, or if you failed to show up for work or didn't earn your pay while at work and got fired, etc. etc., then that's on you. Your bad luck was self-made. It's your own damn fault. You don't deserve charity. The only thing you earned and deserve is a whole lot of ridicule and a good swift kick in the posterior. Perhaps you deserve a "second chance" or even a "third chance" to "earn" and get it right, but you are not entitled to anything.
To take from hard working Americans who weren't lazy, who did study hard, who played by the rules, obeyed the law, who saved and sacrificed, who had a good work ethic, who served their country, who behaved responsibly, etc. etc., and then force them to "share their wealth" with these others who elected to do the opposite is both immoral and sinful. It is wholly unfair and completely unjust.
Inheritance is neither earned or deserved although far to many people believe that it is. If you feel "entitled" to your inheritance then you are an especially greedy person. You may have a legal right to your inheritance in much the same way as a lottery winner has a right to his or her winnings, but neither of your earned it. Both of you just got lucky. You are not "entitled" to it. With two exceptions that I will discuss later, entitlements should not be "won," the should always be "earned." An example of earned is a pension "earned" for work. If you did the work, met your contractual obligations, then you are indeed "entitled" to the benefit.
Think about this, just because your parents worked hard and earned a small fortune, how does that in anyway "entitle" you to what they have? It's not yours. You didn't earn any of it. How dare you think that you have a birthright to it?
Certainly, if your parents want to "will" their fortune to someone that is entirely there business. It's their money so they can do what ever they want with it. Just be mindful that inheritance is still a gift, not an entitlement, and should be received with gratitude. You don't deserve boasting rights if you become rich through inheritance. Pride like that is a sin. You should feel especially humbled when you receive such good fortune.
Of course, the state has even less right to your parents' wealth then you do. For this reason alone inheritance is a good thing, no doubt about it. Without inheritance anything left behind by an industrious and successful hard workers would end up in the coffers of government. There it would quickly disappear, spent by corrupt politicians who clearly didn't earn any of it, and who will never feel a shred of gratitude or humility upon receiving it. Politicians, with very few exceptions, have largely become among the most selfish, corrupt and greedy group of people in human history.
People who paid in to social security and MEDICARE are "entitled" to compensation when they reach the appropriate age. They earned it. They fulfilled their obligations as citizens to both trust funds. That makes it an "entitlement." However, those who did not contribute to the social security or MEDICARE trust funds should not be in anyway entitled to social security compensation or MEDICARE. If they are indigent and sick, let them receive MEDICAID, a welfare program, to set them aside from everyone else who actually "earned" their entitlement.
Whenever congress or the president "transfers money" out of the social security trust fund, or the MEDICARE trust fund, to anyone who did not contribute to these funds it is nothingness than an outright act of theft and it should be identified as such. Any law that legalizes such theft should be immediately replaced with new moral and ethical laws that hold lawmakers criminally accountable and civilly liable whenever they do this.
Even when one does the right thing, works hard and raises his or her kids to be good, decent law abiding citizens who contribute to the country and our economy instead of sponging off of it, that parent has no monetary claim if their child becomes successful. All you "deserve" is a sincere "pat on the back," an "Atta Boy" or an "Atta Girl," for being a good parent. They also get the joy that should naturally come from your child's success and the comfort in knowing you don't have to worry about them.
Being a good parent and raising your kids right is your duty as a parent. No child deserves less from his or her parent. Parenting was your job; parenting is a hard job to be sure, and sometimes even a thankless job, but remember your child didn't employ you to become their parent, you did that. You're being a good parent in no way entitles you to share in your child's fame or fortune. You earned yours and they earned theirs. You both earned and received what you deserved - end of story.
We see so many parents and other family members "latch on" to the success of a family member as if it were their own success and they feel a sense of "entitlement" to their family members success, again as if it were their own. Common sense tells you that is not true. Sometimes a parent will say, "I gave him/her birth" or "I raised him/her" so they couldn't have done it without me. That's pure BS! If that were true then all their children would have enjoyed the same success without fail. If that parent knew how to "do it," to become successful, then they would have done it for themselves and they would not need to share in the success and prosperity of their child as if it were their own.
Sure, some parents genuinely go above and beyond, even labor and sacrifice to help their child succeed, often under very difficult circumstances. That's different. Those parents deserve more then just a little gratitude. Their child knows it too. He/she deeply loves them for that. Out of gratitude their child will usually do everything they can for that parent even though the parent doesn't ask for anything or expect anything. Even then, it's a gift, not an entitlement. If the successful child wants to voluntarily "share his/her wealth" with their parents or other family members out of "gratitude," then that's appropriate. But for the parent to feel "entitled " to a portion of what their adult child earned is "greed" at a shameful extreme. Siblings and extended family don't have a birthright to an anything. They didn't "earn" any part of their family members success and are therefore "undeserving" and not "entitled." They should just feel happy for their relatives' success.
This is also how liberal progressives relate to our country and it's all wrong. When the country as a whole is successful they seem think they have a "birth right" or a "right of citizenship" to "share in the wealth' even if they didn't do a anything to contribute to that success. They're just a bunch of freeloading leeches. That's wrong! That's socialism!
Unfortunately, that is also precisely what President Obama is trying to do. It's what liberal's and socialists routinely do. They want other peoples money and they want to spend or transfer others peoples money, but they are rarely generous with there own wealth. Note that charitable contributions by President Obama and Vice-President Biden in 2008 was not only laughable, it also proved to be an embarrassment for both of them. They seemingly knew little or nothing about "personal generosity." They only knew how to spend and share "your money."
Naturally those who earned what they have object to such "transference of wealth" at their expense. As explained before, the involuntary "transfer of wealth" is the essence of "greed." It also helps to explain President Obama's sudden and massive drop in the polls.
We must break free from this trend toward socialism as demonstrated through this horrific spending and "transference of wealth." We must free our society of this "entitlement mentality." Here are what Americans are actually "entitled" to and nothing more or less:
1. Equal opportunity
2. All the freedoms and rights that are guaranteed in our constitution and bill of rights.
Nothing else is or should be an entitlement for any American unless it is "earned."

Think rich and you will be
If you think rich, you're much more likely to become rich. This is the unanimous verdict from speaking to every wealthy person I know - and from my own research and experience in the field of generating wealth.
Whilst I can't promise you millions overnight, if you apply the advice in this and the following articles you won't worry about cash anymore, you'll stop seeing money as the "be all and end all" of your life - and somehow you'll almost certainly attract more cash into your life.
This is quite a long article (2000 words) - as it summarises the entire process I went through to go from being poor and miserable to thinking rich and happy - and I'm sure you'll agree it's worth the few extra minutes of your time. Poor Folk Don't Think Rich
Generating wealth is ultimately nothing more than a subconscious conviction on your part. If you can persuade your unconscious to think rich, you will get rich. It sounds crazy, but if you can somehow convince yourself that you are wealthy, you're in the game.
The opposite is true if you believe you're broke - it's a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Thinking rich is obviously easier said than done. Up until as little as 6 or 7 months ago, I suffered from a poverty consciousness - I saw myself as poor. In fact, no matter how much I earned, I was always worrying about money - almost constantly.
Take a minute to see if my prior situation resonates with you: I was scared to check my bank balance - the mere thought of it sent a chilling rush of adrenaline and fear bolting straight to my gut. I never had any cash on me, and was forever trying to find an ATM or having to borrow cash. I detested paying bills, and was loathsome to give any money away. If a friend borrowed cash from me - they certainly bloody knew about it! I regularly panicked as to where the next lump of money would come from - and positively hated spending it. In short, there was never enough cash - and money preoccupied my thoughts the vast majority of the time. Money will complete me, I wagered... if only I can get rich, I'll be happy then...
Any of the above ringing a bell...? This is not exactly thinking rich, in my humble opinion. How many millionaires do you believe think like that?
Luckily, I reached a tipping point - I was undeniably sick of my situation. I decided to do whatever it took to a) stop worrying about money, b) get some money, and c) think rich.
My plan worked - on all three counts. This is how I did it... and best of all, it's easy as pie. All it takes is a little motivation and a lot of imagination.

Take between 10 % and 20 % of your earnings - pre-tax, if possible - and deposit it in a high interest savings account, an ISA - or put it in a shoe box under your bed. All that matters is that no matter what you ensure you get paid before any of your creditors. Sod them - they've got enough money!
And why shouldn't you? Please try and justify why you would work 200 hours per month to be left with nothing at the end of it. This is a life of slavery - and one to avoid at all costs.
There are very few people who I've explained this principle to who legitimately cannot afford to put away at least 10% of their earnings every month. Yes, you might have to lay off the new clothes, heavy nights on the town and meals out while you adjust - but adjust you will.

Being unable to chip in when you have a meal or share a cab with your friends is embarrassing. Asking your marijuana dealer to accept a check - or an IOU - is unlikely to go down too well and endear you to him lovingly. It is also unlikely to help you get high in the future.
In order to think rich, you need to act rich. Rich folk don't run out of cash. They have beautiful, bulbous, swelling wallets with thick wads of paper crammed into them. They have cash on them to spend and cash on them to loan.
Rich people visit an ATM infrequently - to top up supplies when reserves get low. They don't queue up for ten minutes every day to withdraw $10 - and then hoard that single note and pray to God they don't have to break into it.
I can safely say - without exaggeration, elaboration or hyperbole - that carrying more cash is the fastest and most effective way to get your subconscious to think rich. By emulating rich people and carrying around more cash, you will think rich and feel rich too.
The trick is to start carrying around an amount of cash that makes you feel slightly uncomfortable. It should excite you! You can almost feel the presence of this cash in your pocket. It makes you carry yourself very differently. Looking into your wallet should even speed your heart rate up a little... and the feel and touch of this chunk of notes will open a whole new sensory experience for you. Even the new and exciting smell of a wad of notes will drift up to your nose and signal to your subconscious that BIG CHANGES ARE HAPPENING!
Every time you pull your wallet out you send a massive affirmation to your brain that I HAVE MONEY! Flicking through the notes feels great and can't help but make you think rich. When the amount you withdraw doesn't feel quite so daring, exciting or unusual anymore - simply increase the amount you carry.
Don't be alarmed - this is the result you want - it means that you have subconsciously got used to carrying an amount of cash that used to feel alien! You are beginning to think rich. If I spend $20, I assure myself that $40 is coming back to me... from somewhere. And guess what? Since I started doing this, I've near enough doubled my income - and reduced my working hours my 60%. To me, this beggars rational explanation.
The happier you can get with the prospect of spending money guilt-free, the more money you will get in the future. Think rich and don't feel bad - treat yourself and know that your money is coming back to you from somewhere!

You may have forgotten it, but it is right there. You will now remember it. And the first step to that is to always remember that money is not real; it is the shadow of something else.
You may be rich, but if you lack good health & meaningful relationships to enjoy the riches in life, then you are merely being financially prosperous & not truly wealthy in all areas of your life.
You must accept abundance in all areas of your life. You do in fact need to be financially prosperous to enjoy life to its fullest: to have, be and do the things you desire; but that is just one part of the entire equation. Financial prosperity will come naturally and easily. The hardest part is getting out of your own way. Yes, we sometimes are our own obstacle.

the truth about making money
we all endeavour to make ourselves financially stable, and it always seems to get harder and harder. Over the years i have tried lots of things, without success, everything from MLM were you have to keep paying out money and pushing the products on your family and friends. it has its good and bad points
1 MLM these companies don't advertise and aren't in the shops to cut the cost down, its all done by word of mouth, sounds good?. So why are the products i have ever looked really over priced even at the price the distributor gets it for, you can but pretty much the same products or better for less money elsewhere.
2 Internet marketing, there are so many out there which ones are just scams it hard to say, until you try them. They give you options to earn loads of money and do nothing , they appeal to people but again most don't work or you have to spend thousand marketing and driving traffic to the site , then you give it up earning nothing.

Everyone wants to improve productivity when it comes to their business. I think we all realize that we make more money when we get more stuff done. However this is easier said than done.
The reality is that every business has one major bottleneck and this is the business owner. The success of our business is directly related to our performance. So as business owners, it makes sense to look at how we can make ourselves more productive. We can also work towards eliminating ourselves from the process of running the business but we'll talk more about this in a second.
What follows are my biggest tips for improving your productivity that I've learned while living the entrepreneurial lifestyle. While there will be some information you've heard before I guarantee there will also be some you haven't. But improving your productivity has nothing to do with reading, understanding, or knowing the following information. It is only when you take these tips and put them into practice that they will make a difference.
How goals really work
If you've read anything like this before you should know that you need to have your goals written down. The reality is if you're not prepared to set your own direction someone else will. So it's time to stop making excuses and just do it.
But I'm not talking about big pie in the sky goals either (although you need those as well). I'm talking about small actionable goals that you use every day. You should have clear goals for 1 year, 9 months, 6 months, 3 months, 1 month, this week, and today.
By breaking down your big goals into all the small steps you must successfully work through to reach your big goals you'll find that they're much more attainable. Take it from someone who has always written down huge goals and struggled to achieve them. You need something you can look at every day and go to work on.
Get focused on the right things
This is one of the biggest struggles I've had in my life and one that curses most business owners. It could be the latest new fad or an emergency that crops up and immediately we're distracted from our goals. We need to ensure we're working on what's most important every hour of every day.
How do we decide what those things are? Well the ultimate measure is how much money they make for our business. But we need to be careful to remember that we must divide our focus evenly between the short and long term.
It's no good to be focusing on the short term where we make money if we aren't also focused on creating a sustainable business model for ourselves for the long term. This is where most "successful" business owners end up going wrong. They are so focused on the money that they create a business that needs their constant care and attention.
Create systems and remove yourself from them
Your long term focus should be on building systems within your business. Instead of chasing after one new money making idea after another (trust me I've been there) you need to buckle down and create systems. Then when you find a new way to make money in your business you can systematize it and move on.
This way you're steadily adding revenue to your business that doesn't require your direct involvement. It's also about finding ways to make money without you having to be the worker bee that needs to do everything. This will really stifle your business' growth.
If you haven't read 'The E-Myth Revisited' by Michael Gerber make sure you grab yourself a copy. It'll completely change your perspective on how to create a business that gives you freedom rather than taking it away. It's a must read for all business owners.
Learn to let go and delegate effectively
Part of creating effective systems is learning to delegate and let go of your work. It's often hard for us as business owners to give up control but it you want to have freedom rather than a prison then it must be done. I can't tell you how much of a relief it is when you find staff that can take the burden off your shoulders.
Sometimes you have to take a step back and accept that other people won't know your business as well as you. At first they may not do a perfect job but if you take the time to train them properly then they will. You also have to release yourself from perfection and realize sometimes the job just has to get done.
The truth is no salesperson will sell your business as well as you. No office manager will handle customer service as you would. But at the end of the day you have to ask yourself a hard question. Do you want everything to be perfect all the time or do you want to make more money and free yourself from the daily grind?
I've heard of business owners who have offices but never go there because if they do they'll end up trying to "fix stuff." You have to let go and accept that if the numbers are good then you need to just leave it alone.
Always put yourself in peak state
If you want to be highly productive you must ensure your mind and body are in a peak physical state. This means you should be exercising, eating well and drinking lots of water. If you're not performing at your best then your business won't either.
So take some time to exercise in the morning and get ready for the day. Try to find your body's natural balance and stop pumping it up with stimulants (like coffee) to get you through the day. Drink 8 glasses of water every day including 2 immediately after you wake up.
By taking the time to make these changes you'll be more focused and productive when you're on the job. The truth is the business owner who abuses their body by constantly working will be much less productive than a person who focuses on working effectively. Believe it or not but working 12 hour days doesn't necessarily mean you get more done.
Become more productive by working less time
I found myself most effective when working in blocks of 2 hours each (thanks to Eben Pagan for this). I work for 2 hours then take 30 minutes to switch off and eat a small meal. For these 30 minutes I'm completely banned from doing anything work related including checking emails or other "light" tasks.
I now notice the difference when I take my break and when I don't. The days I don't I end up sifting through mindless tasks and not ticking anything off my goal list. But by taking a small break I find myself more focused and productive when I return to work.
My current schedule is only working 10am - 12pm, 12:30pm - 2:30pm and 3pm - 5pm which is just 6 hours a day. However I've never been as focused or productive before and this is including when I worked very long hours. If I really want to complete something I also might add another session from 5:30pm - 7:30pm as well.
Turn off your emails and eliminate other distractions
In this day and age we're surrounded by constant distractions. Studies have shown that when we get interrupted from a task it takes 18 minutes or more to get back into the rhythm of what we're doing. Add that time together and you might be able to understand why we get nothing done all day.
The easiest rule of being productive is to turn your email off and only check it at a specified time of day (I prefer at the end). This means you're avoiding the little beeps of incoming email and you also don't need to rush off to attend to "urgent" tasks. You'll be amazed how these "urgent" tasks melt away when you change your working habits and become more effective.
The same goes for phone calls, text/instant messages and people stopping by the office. Set up boundaries for yourself and try to filter everything through your email. If you do need to talk on the phone then have people arrange an appointment by emailing you.
I set aside the first 2 hours of the day for writing without interruptions. This means I can get important articles (like this one) written that help promote my business and also create resources for my email subscribers and clients. I then have other tasks assigned on a schedule and don't even look at my email until 4pm.
You can improve your productivity too
By following the guidelines here you can increase your productivity dramatically. However I understand some of these guidelines may be overwhelming right now. But you don't need to implement everything to get the benefits. Even if you start by trying just one thing I guarantee you will still notice a difference.
If you break down the ideas in this article into smaller chunks you can implement them on a schedule that works for you. Maybe you start by drinking more water and then scheduling in 30 minute breaks. Then start creating your goals around creating systems in your business.
While I've presented a lot of information here I've found that the combination of all these techniques can ultimately improve productivity. I also know that they'll make a huge difference in your life and business. All it takes is a little groundwork for you to start working effectively and for your bank account to begin to flourish.

The reality is that every business has one major bottleneck and this is the business owner. The success of our business is directly related to our performance. So as business owners, it makes sense to look at how we can make ourselves more productive. We can also work towards eliminating ourselves from the process of running the business but we'll talk more about this in a second.
What follows are my biggest tips for improving your productivity that I've learned while living the entrepreneurial lifestyle. While there will be some information you've heard before I guarantee there will also be some you haven't. But improving your productivity has nothing to do with reading, understanding, or knowing the following information. It is only when you take these tips and put them into practice that they will make a difference.
How goals really work
If you've read anything like this before you should know that you need to have your goals written down. The reality is if you're not prepared to set your own direction someone else will. So it's time to stop making excuses and just do it.
But I'm not talking about big pie in the sky goals either (although you need those as well). I'm talking about small actionable goals that you use every day. You should have clear goals for 1 year, 9 months, 6 months, 3 months, 1 month, this week, and today.
By breaking down your big goals into all the small steps you must successfully work through to reach your big goals you'll find that they're much more attainable. Take it from someone who has always written down huge goals and struggled to achieve them. You need something you can look at every day and go to work on.
Get focused on the right things
This is one of the biggest struggles I've had in my life and one that curses most business owners. It could be the latest new fad or an emergency that crops up and immediately we're distracted from our goals. We need to ensure we're working on what's most important every hour of every day.
How do we decide what those things are? Well the ultimate measure is how much money they make for our business. But we need to be careful to remember that we must divide our focus evenly between the short and long term.
It's no good to be focusing on the short term where we make money if we aren't also focused on creating a sustainable business model for ourselves for the long term. This is where most "successful" business owners end up going wrong. They are so focused on the money that they create a business that needs their constant care and attention.
Create systems and remove yourself from them
Your long term focus should be on building systems within your business. Instead of chasing after one new money making idea after another (trust me I've been there) you need to buckle down and create systems. Then when you find a new way to make money in your business you can systematize it and move on.
This way you're steadily adding revenue to your business that doesn't require your direct involvement. It's also about finding ways to make money without you having to be the worker bee that needs to do everything. This will really stifle your business' growth.
If you haven't read 'The E-Myth Revisited' by Michael Gerber make sure you grab yourself a copy. It'll completely change your perspective on how to create a business that gives you freedom rather than taking it away. It's a must read for all business owners.
Learn to let go and delegate effectively
Part of creating effective systems is learning to delegate and let go of your work. It's often hard for us as business owners to give up control but it you want to have freedom rather than a prison then it must be done. I can't tell you how much of a relief it is when you find staff that can take the burden off your shoulders.
Sometimes you have to take a step back and accept that other people won't know your business as well as you. At first they may not do a perfect job but if you take the time to train them properly then they will. You also have to release yourself from perfection and realize sometimes the job just has to get done.
The truth is no salesperson will sell your business as well as you. No office manager will handle customer service as you would. But at the end of the day you have to ask yourself a hard question. Do you want everything to be perfect all the time or do you want to make more money and free yourself from the daily grind?
I've heard of business owners who have offices but never go there because if they do they'll end up trying to "fix stuff." You have to let go and accept that if the numbers are good then you need to just leave it alone.
Always put yourself in peak state
If you want to be highly productive you must ensure your mind and body are in a peak physical state. This means you should be exercising, eating well and drinking lots of water. If you're not performing at your best then your business won't either.
So take some time to exercise in the morning and get ready for the day. Try to find your body's natural balance and stop pumping it up with stimulants (like coffee) to get you through the day. Drink 8 glasses of water every day including 2 immediately after you wake up.
By taking the time to make these changes you'll be more focused and productive when you're on the job. The truth is the business owner who abuses their body by constantly working will be much less productive than a person who focuses on working effectively. Believe it or not but working 12 hour days doesn't necessarily mean you get more done.
Become more productive by working less time
I found myself most effective when working in blocks of 2 hours each (thanks to Eben Pagan for this). I work for 2 hours then take 30 minutes to switch off and eat a small meal. For these 30 minutes I'm completely banned from doing anything work related including checking emails or other "light" tasks.
I now notice the difference when I take my break and when I don't. The days I don't I end up sifting through mindless tasks and not ticking anything off my goal list. But by taking a small break I find myself more focused and productive when I return to work.
My current schedule is only working 10am - 12pm, 12:30pm - 2:30pm and 3pm - 5pm which is just 6 hours a day. However I've never been as focused or productive before and this is including when I worked very long hours. If I really want to complete something I also might add another session from 5:30pm - 7:30pm as well.
